Marketers today are expected to do more with less than ever before. Think about it: It hasn’t been all that long ago since they could focus predominantly on print ads and postcards. In addition, now they must master the worlds of email marketing and social media. Plus, they must satiate their customers’ and prospects’ never-ending, ever-increasing hunger for content—across multiple channels.

Beyond that, it’s just not enough to churn out marketing message after marketing message. They must figure out which message works, and that means harnessing and analyzing a mind-blowing influx of data.

While some companies out there have the manpower, resources—and loot—to manage it all, many companies, especially small- and mid-sized businesses, are turning to outside help to keep all the balls in the air. In fact, according to the HubShout Marketing Trends Survey, more companies outsourced functions, such as SEO and pay-per-click services in 2017 than in previous years. Other companies are even choosing to outsource their more creative endeavors, such as content creation and copywriting.

The opportunities to outsource don’t stop there either. In fact, here are five important marketing tasks you could—and should—start outsourcing tomorrow:

Call campaigns

You shouldn’t abandon this time-tested marketing tactic. That said, to make all those marketing calls to build leads or collect data, you must either bring in temporary help, somehow convince volunteers to do the job for free, or eat up employees’ time that could be spent on more lucrative efforts.

Moderation of user-generated content

The keyboard warriors of the world are ruthless, and they love to spout off all sorts of hateful, offensive, brand-damaging stuff on social media and in the comments section of your blog. You need to be monitoring your content and checking in often to publish, edit, respond to and even delete comments. It’s a necessity to protect your brand—and outsourcing is a great way to get the job done.

Content creation

When it comes to developing content, transcription services can be your best friend because you can repurpose content you’ve already created, and receive more bang for your buck. For example, transcribe a webinar to create a white paper you can use for lead generation with just some minor editing. Transcribe an interview with your CEO to whip up a timely blog. Or scan an old marketing piece and have a transcriber quickly convert it to a document you can edit and manipulate. Some transcription services even provide full translation so you can easily create pieces for a global audience. Even better, many services can turn projects around in less than a day.

Sentiment analysis

If your first thought was “What is that?” outsourcing this function is a smart idea. Sentiment analysis is the science of figuring out people’s attitude toward your brand by analyzing the words they are using but also taking into account context, tone, emotion, and other variables. It’s involved, and it’s not something your average marketer is equipped to handle, but it is critical, especially as you look to build your brand or rebrand after a PR crisis. Bottom line: You need to know how the masses feel about your company.

Data clean up

You have an absurd amount of raw data coming at you from all different directions, and much of it is unusable. An outsourcer not only can do the data collection for you, but they can also annotate, enrich, de-dup, scrub and append the data. Imagine handing over a mess of incomplete data and receiving a pristine file of information you can actually use.
