Hi, my name is Jelena and I’m the growth manager here at Helpware. Today, we’re going to talk about remote teams management, together with my colleague Kristina. Before the days of instant messaging, emailing, and video conferences, remote teams were rarely effective. Now, the team members could be in a different time zones, cultures, and even different languages. Even though it has been a trend for past couple of years, it’s still a new experience to a lot of people. That’s why we’re here to help and share some useful tips that might work out for you.

First, remember that the team is dedicated to you and your company. If they aren’t located in your office, it doesn’t mean they aren’t a part of your team. What helps here at the beginning is having a clear structure of how they should work, who they should report to, and how we could measure their success. Second is strong communication. Talk to your employees often. We use tools like Slack, Zoom, HipChat, and others to stay in touch with your team members on a daily basis. Of course, nothing beats here face-to-face communication. In early days, we really recommend to all clients to use video conferences with new hires at least three times a week.

Hi, my name is Kristina and I’m project manager here at Helpware, and I will pick up the conversation from here. Another important thing is culture difference. There are different traditions, holidays, in different countries, so please learn ours and share yours with us. Did you know that in Ukraine we celebrate Christmas on January the 7th? One more important thing that I would like to discuss here is staying organized. Keeping track of the project management tools will help you to stay consistent and to check the progress of the task the team is working on. Here in Helpware, we are fond of simple project management tools such as Trello, Asana, ActiveCollab. They’re very simple to use, and they’re very straightforward. Definitely the remote teams are the workforce of the future, and we hope that these tips will help you in your daily interaction with your remote team members.
